When it's time to move into full time care...

Dementia care for the elderly in Folkestone

Moving in to a care home means companionship, laughter, support and a renewed enjoyment of life

It's natural to want to live in your own home for as long as possible. No one wants 'to be put in a care home'. However, for someone who is living with dementia, the strive for continued independence can actually lead to isolation, loneliness and confusion as their old familiar home just doesn't make sense anymore.

If your loved one has reached the stage where it's no longer practical or manageable to live at home, we'd like to offer you the perfect solution.

This is the best decision you can make

Far from being a negative step, becoming a resident at Pelham House Care Home may prove to be the best decision you've ever made. In fact, the most common comment we have from residents and families after they've moved in is "I wish we'd done it so much sooner".

You'll find your loved one is likely to blossom here. Freed from the many challenges of daily living at home, they'll be able to make new friends, join in a variety of activities and enjoy life to the full again.

Surrounded by people who truly care about her

Caroline E Daughter of Resident

Working in the NHS I knew exactly what I wanted from a Care Home. Pelham House delivers this. Family run. My mum loves being surrounded by people who truly care about her and I am confident that all her needs are met and that she is flourishing under their care.

Would happily recommend to anyone

More good reasons for choosing Pelham House Care Home

Here are some more reasons why we believe Pelham House Care Home will provide the ideal environment for your loved one to rediscover joy in life and really get the best from their later years.

Pelham is a specialist dementia home

We specialise in caring for people who have dementia and this has enabled our staff to build up tremendous practical knowledge of how to provide the very best dementia care. Whatever the type of behaviour, we will have experienced it before and know how to deal with it in the best possible way.

The home has a real community feel

Pelham's 22 bed size means that all the staff know all the residents, and all the residents know each other. There’s a genuine community feel to the place and this really helps our residents to enjoy life more, especially if they’ve previously lived alone for a number of years and have been unable to get out much.

It can be quite a revelation and we often see people really come alive again with their new found purpose for living.

Warm and Welcoming

Jennifer S

Losing her own home was devastating to my Mother but Pelham Care Home is so homely, warm and welcoming that she settled in in no time and I feel that she is looked after in a dignified manner in a clean caring environment.

Her room is bright and airy, the staff are very friendly and kind and the food is excellent. I can relax knowing that Mum is safe and secure in the best home of its kind in Folkestone.

Stable and long serving staff team

Your loved one needs to know, like and trust our staff members completely if they are to feel comfortable in letting them care for them - and so do we.

Unlike many care homes in the area our staff turnover is very low. Our team is strong and stable with the majority of staff members being at Pelham for many years.

What this means for you and your loved one is that they will be looked after by a highly skilled, highly trained, expert team who have vast experience of caring for the needs of those in their later years. More importantly perhaps is that they'll become trusted friends and companions that your loved one will be comfortable with when dealing with the more sensitive aspects of personal care.

This is truly important and often over looked in larger homes where there is often a regular turnover of staff and high pressure to recruit and fill a large workforce.

Pelham has been rated as 'Good' by the CQC

The government inspects every home in the country and gives it a rating of Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, or Inadequate. (Click here for more information).

On 21 April 2018 Pelham House Care Home received a Good rating from the CQC, so you can rest easy in the knowledge that your loved one will be cared for properly. Click here to see the full report.
