Like more than half of all UK care homes, Pelham House was hit by an outbreak of Covid 19. However, we are pleased to say that we are now completely Covid free and resolute in our determination to remain so.  

We have detailed below the extensive steps we are taking to ensure your loved one will be safe at Pelham and be able to enjoy the wonderful life here that has made Pelham such a popular choice in recent years.

How We're Keeping Pelham Residents Safe

Cleaning Regime – There is regular daily cleaning of touchpoints and all areas while fogging has been completed for the last two months which leaves an invisible layer to kill COVID for 30 days. This will continue.

PPE – Staff received training in PPE from the Infection Prevention Team and have been constantly trained in Infection Control and the safe use of PPE. We are following PPE guidelines. These are updated daily regarding testing, retesting and infection control procedures.

We keep a generous stock of reserve PPE in case of an outbreak.

Staff  There is a stable staffing team in place. Staff have their temperature taken once a day and wear a mask at all times. Hand washing is monitored and checked regularly.

Testing  As per the guidelines, staff are tested weekly and residents monthly unless anyone presents with symptoms.

Social Distancing  Social distancing is maintained at all times where possible.

Essential Visitors  Anyone who must come into the home is required to complete a questionnaire and have their temperature taken. 

Isolation Strategy – As we're sure you'll appreciate, for the safety of all concerned we want to take all possible steps to ensure new residents are Covid free. Your loved one will therefore need to be tested before admission to the home. In addition, it's crucial they remain apart from other residents for the first 14 days of their stay, which means remaining in their room. 

Don't worry though, our (suitably protected) staff will be keeping them company and bringing them regular delicious home-cooked meals, snacks and drinks. We also have a video service so you'll be able to speak with them directly via Zoom or Skype and you can send them video messages from our website or Facebook page to them know you're thinking of them.

These will, of course, continue to be available to you once your loved one has settled in and joined our community.
