Overwhelming support from the community

In the months before Lockdown we were both delighted and privileged to welcome in so many volunteers from the community around us. Young and old, groups and individuals – all of whom helped us make Pelham House the vibrant, cheerful and caring home it is for our residents.

The messages of support we are now receiving from these volunteers, along with our friends, families and neighbours – the people who know us best -have been simply amazing!

Here we thought we’d share just a few of the messages we have received from some of the people who have played such a big part in the lives of the folk at Pelham.

The support being shown to our Staff and Residents has kept us going. We are now looking forward to the new norm and having visitors calling and cheering us along once again. This may be a little while yet, but it will happen.

Apples Nursery children with their cards for staff and residents at Pelham

Hello all at Pelham,

We reopened for a small number of children last week and the children wanted to make cards for everyone at Pelham

The children have lovely stories about their wonderful visits to Pelham Care Home and talk so fondly of all the residents. We have made such wonderful memories from singing to delivering Christmas Presents and decorating biscuits together.

The children of Apples hope that one day soon we will be able to make more memories together for everyone young or old xxx

All our love and best wishes xx

We have missed coming to Pelham and singing with the residents. Several folk in my group who have come to sing have asked me about the situation. We long to return, when it is right and appropriate. We want to restore JOY and PEACE to Pelham, as well as paying tribute to those, much loved but no longer with us.

Pelham House is one big family. As you walk in to the house, you get an immediate warm feeling that this is a home …. The Pelham family.

I pray that this family, though shocked and bereaved, will receive the healing from God that they need and re discover that JOY and PEACE that comes from our Lord Jesus.

We are all looking forward to joining you again.
We’ll meet again….some sunny day.

With my love and prayers
Robert and the St.John’s Sing-a-Long Team.

—————————————————————————————

We have been residents in Pelham Gardens for almost 30 years now, and Pelham House has always been the constant presence. You have been through the most traumatic of times recently and we are so sad for your losses. Whether a resident, nurse, care worker, catering staff or management you have all been so very brave and resilient. We, as neighbours, are so proud of you all. You have our utmost respect.

So it seems as if things are improving, and we can’t wait to life returning to normal at Pelham House. It won’t be long before Sally can bring her plate of flapjacks round and we can all sit in the beautiful garden at Pelham House and enjoy each other’s company.

With our love, prayers and support,

Your neighbours,
Sally and Graham

Dear all at Pelham,

After the most difficult time imaginable Nick and I are very grateful and proud of Roger and all the staff at Pelham House for their wonderful care and hard work during this difficult period.

In our 13 years in Pelham Gardens this has been the hardest to live through and we are proud to have such caring and loving people in our midst. Of course we knew this before, during the years that my dear mother received loving care at the home – but in 2020 you have all gone above and beyond the call of duty. Well done!

Love
Jennifer- Resident Pelham Gardens, Folkestone.

Dear Roger and all the staff and residents at Pelham Care Home,

What a terrible time you’ve been having, but I hope you have turned a corner and that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I understand that you are virtually Covid free and that everyone is well on their way to recovery.

We (Peter, Thomas, Joshua and I) have lived in Pelham Gardens for 15 years, and absolutely love it – it’s such a community. We’ve enjoyed your social events, BBQ’s and dog show, and I brought my Mum along who’s now 88 to show her how amazing a care home can be. We were so sad to hear of the situation with Covid in the home, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all later in the summer – perhaps at another event, albeit socially distanced!

So our thoughts have been and still are with you.

Best wishes – Karen
